About

The Northwoods Chapter  of Trout Unlimited has been conserving, protecting, and restoring the coldwater fisheries and  watersheds of Vilas, Oneida, Florence and Forest counties for over 35 years.

Although most our rivers in the Northwoods appear to be pristine, these little creeks and rivers that flow today through National Forest and the remote towns of the Northwoods were once hard working.  Historically, they received their fair share of abuse from logging and mis-management.

Northwoods TU has partners with the United States Forest Service, Wisconsin DNR, Michigan DNR and others to help restore the rivers through brushing, beaver control, dam removal and log drops via helicopter.  As a result, today there are many wonderful rivers nestled throughout the Northwoods which are home to the native brook trout.

Each year we host volunteer workdays, youth educational events, fly casting clinics, informational meetings, and a conservation  banquet to raise funds.  We hope that you will join us!
